In 2017, Mason’s undergraduate thesis, Three Psalms, a four-movement work for SATB unaccompanied choir, premiered at Haverford College. The following spring, he composed an original score for Bryn Mawr College’s production of Mr Burns: a post-electric play. Over the next few years, Mason performed and provided music direction in educational, religious, and elder care settings in the Philadelphia area, with a focus on teaching and empowering expression for performers of every age.

In 2021, Mason relocated to New York City to pursue his Masters degree in Writing & Design for Musical Theater, as a part of BerkleeNYC‘s inaugural class. His work aspires to and draws on a variety of styles, from folk and pop singer-songwriters (Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor) to musical theater classic and contemporary (Stephen Schwartz, Howard Ashman, Anais Mitchell).

Currently, Mason is an educator and music director at Applause New York. His original musical Burn (co-written with Patrick Deane Greeley) is in the process of further development. Mason resides in East Harlem with his partner and 2 cats.
