His work draws on a variety of styles, from folk and pop singer-songwriters (Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor) to musical theater classic and contemporary (Stephen Schwartz, Howard Ashman, Anais Mitchell). In 2017, Mason’s undergraduate thesis, Three Psalms, a four-movement work for SATB unaccompanied choir, premiered at Haverford College. The following spring, he composed an original score for Bryn Mawr College’s production of Mr Burns: a post-electric play. Since then, Mason has performed and music directed in educational, religious, and elder care settings in the Philadelphia area, with a focus on teaching and empowering expression for performers of every age.

Currently, Mason is a Masters candidate at BerkleeNYC, studying Writing & Design for Musical Theater; his thesis musical Burn (co-written with Patrick Deane Greeley) will receive its first presentation in Summer 2022. Mason resides in East Harlem with his partner and 2 cats.
